During this difficult time, I would like to wish you and your loved ones much blessings, you are all in our thoughts and prayers. It is a time for common sense to prevail over panic, for us to consider community over self and for all of us to change our routines and habits.

The safety and welfare of our clients and employees are paramount. Upon monitoring the global spread of the COVID-19, Eye Q Optical has further enhanced our health and safety standards and procedures to ensure your safety in our offices and that of our team.

In our efforts to keep our employees and clients safe, we have developed a COVID-19 Response Plan, which outlines our response to the outbreak. These efforts will allow us to continue to provide the quality eye-care service and attention you are accustomed to.

We rely on your continued support in cooperating with our team as we ascertain further details, prior to and upon your arrival, regarding your general health and travel history. Please avoid visiting our locations should you feel unwell in any way or have traveled recently or been in contact with someone displaying possible COVID-19 symptoms. Please call to advise us and we’ll be happy to reschedule your appointment accordingly.

Some of the measures we are employing to mitigate the local transmission of the Coronavirus include:

  • Increasing the frequency and intensity of our cleaning and sanitization protocols.
    • All clients and team members are greeted with hand sanitizers upon entry to our locations and its use is mandatory to gain access.
    • All surfaces including but not limited to door handles, chairs, and counters are sanitized every 20 minutes and our equipment prior to, during and after every use.
    • All frames have been sanitized and our usual try-on for yourself policy has been suspended. All frames are now handled strictly by the Eye Q team, reducing the risk of contamination. Please indicate frames of interest to any of our team members, who will assist with fitting.
    • All frames are sanitized before and after trial.
  • Hygienic practices and protocols have been shared with the team. Our team is encouraged to stay home if they experience associated symptoms, feel unwell, or come into contact with persons with symptoms or a risky travel history.
  • Our hospitality service has been suspended until further notice. However, we will provide water for persons in need using disposable cups.
  • As best as possible, we endeavour to maintain the recommended social distancing requirements in our interactions with you. During examination and the fitting of eyewear however, we do have to enter your personal space and will do so as quickly and hygienically as possible. We do understand if you are not comfortable with this and look forward to serving you after this threat is over.

There is a strong possibility that we shall have to close our doors to the public at some stage. I would encourage anyone who has anything with us awaiting collection to do so at this time. Currently we are still open and operating fully.

We are constantly brainstorming to identify ways to conveniently provide you with the requisite support for your eye-care needs, as we actively monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) updates from public officials. We encourage you to adhere to the best practice protocols provided by the Ministry of Health and Wellness to protect yourselves and families from the threat of this virus.

We Accept All Major Healthcards

We accept both major local health insurance providers, Sagicor and Medecus, as well as Canopy Insurance. Customers holding any of these insurance policies may present their health cards when doing transactions at Eye Q. Providing there is eligibility and monies available on the card they can be applied directly towards the customers’ transaction.

We can also accept overseas insurance ichip, Vumi, and Signa by filling in the necessary info and signing.

Our optometrists are certified locally and internationally and use a wide variety of equipment and procedures to examine your eyes. These range from simple tests, like reading an eye chart to complex ones, such as using high powered lenses to visualize tiny structures inside your eyes. All of which set us apart from other optical outlets in Jamaica. Our eye examinations include screening for glaucoma and other diseases. We also offer contact lens fittings and aftercare, frame dispensing, advice on lens selection, glazing facilities, lens tinting, minor repairs and general frame maintenance available for both adults and children.   • We have employed continuous sanitizing techniques & delayed our usual "Try-On-Yourself" policy. Please visit "Covid-19 Announcement" for full details.
  • Our Manor Park office will now have limited opening times. Learn more here.
  • We have reduced the number of appointments per hour to ensure social distancing in store.  Unfortunately children and patients over the age of 65 are not allowed at this time (emergency cases only, please call for advice).
  • There will be no contact lens fittings at this time but replacement contact lenses can be ordered online here or by calling us. Whether you ordered from us, or have an outside prescription, we can provide up to 6 months supply without having to come in for a refit. Payment can be made via bank transfer, and delivered free in corporate area.
  • We cannot stress how important it is to practice good Contact Lens & Eyewear cleaning methods at this time.
  • If you are experiencing any medical eye problems (red eyes, itching eyes, watery eyes, or eye health related issues etc.) please call to speak with doctor for advice before making appointment.
  • Glasses, or lenses, may be replaced / reordered without the need for annual exam providing you are happy with your vision from current pair, and have your prescription. Note: to use health insurance prescription must be within 2 years.  Payment can be made via bank transfer, and delivered free in corporate area.
